How do I make a car rental booking using this website?
Booking is simple with Car Hire Pronto. Just type your preferred pickup location into the search box - we'll match it to available locations automatically. Once you have selected a location to collect the vehicle, provide your rental dates, driver's age and country of residence and click search.
Car Hire Pronto will compare over 500 suppliers to find you the best car hire deal and show you the widest choice of available rentals - pronto!

We compare car hire rates from over 500 rental suppliers in over 150 countries. Rental car suppliers include many of the large operators (eg Thrifty, Sixt, Europcar) as well as smaller regional and family-run businesses.

How much does it cost?
There are no booking fees with Car Hire Pronto. Details of the rate are shown on-screen for each vehicle along with the average daily rate for the duration. Click on any vehicle shown in the search results for more details on what the rate includes.
Car rental rates are provided by each rental supplier and vary by supplier, location, rental dates and your preferred type of vehicle. Rental rates are shown in your preferred currency.

Free upgrades - what are they, how can I get one?
Free upgrades are available via Car Hire Pronto for many reservations. If a vehicle is eligible for a free upgrade or other special offer, it will be clearly shown on the search results screen. Note that free upgrades are always popular and so subject to availability.

How long are rental quotations valid for?
Great car rental deals are always in demand, so we recommend prompt booking once you've found a deal you like. Depending how busy things are, vehicle rates are available for up to 5 to 10 minutes following a search.

What types of vehicle can I book?
There is a wide range of vehicles available for rental from small/economy cars through to luxury motors, people carriers and sports-utility vehicles (SUVs). Cars are provided by all the major manufacturers (eg Ford, Toyota, General Motors, Audi etc) and are generally less than 6-12 months old.
The vehicles available in your chosen location will be shown when you search for car hire using CarHirePronto.com. Choose a specific vehicle in the 'Preferred vehicle' drop-down or pick 'Any vehicle' to see all available types of vehicle when you search.
Car rental agencies will always endeavour to provide the type of car requested. However, under exceptional circumstances, it may be necessary to substitute vehicles at short notice with a vehicle of similar or higher specification.

Can I collect a vehicle from one rental location and return it to another?
Yes - this is ideal for travelers on fly-drive trips and open itineraries.

Can I request a baby seat, Sat Nav, snow chains or other extra equipment when I book?
Most car rental suppliers can provide additional equipment for a car you are renting. You can review the options available by clicking on a vehicle in the search results and selecting the 'Options' tab. We'll ask you what options (if any) you'd like to reserve as part of the booking process.
Note : Additional items are usually subject to availability and the type of vehicle being booked. They are payable locally at the rental counter upon collection of the vehicle.

How do I request child car seats or child booster cushions?
Child seats and booster cushions are usually available when picking up a car, depending upon the type of vehicle and availability of the seats. Where a rental agency can provide these seats, you can request them on the booking form. Any charges associated with these extra items are payable locally when collecting the vehicle.

Payment
What credit/debit cards can I use to make a booking?
Car Hire Pronto accepts Visa and Mastercard credit cards for booking reservations. For items payable locally (eg additional equipment such as baby seats), car rental agencies accept a wide range of credit and debit cards. Accepted payment cards are shown in the rental conditions.

What are the charges and when is my card charged?
The charges for car rental are shown on-screen before a booking is confirmed. You can check when charges are due before you book, simply by clicking on a vehicle in the search results.
Depending upon the car rental supplier, charges may be made either :
- in full when the booking is taken ("pre-paid"), or
- when the vehicle is collected ("post-paid"), or
- in two stages - a small deposit when the booking is made with the balance due upon vehicle collection ("part paid").
The booking form shows the rental charges and when they are levied. If you are requesting additional equipment (eg baby seats, Sat Nav or snow chains etc), these items are chargeable upon collection of the vehicle.

Are my payment details and personal information secure?
The security of your personal information and payment details is very important to us. All booking details are transmitted securely using SSL and - only where necessary - stored securely in one of our secure data centres. Our secure infrastructure, processes and procedures are regularly audited to ensure they continue to deliver world-class security

Why do I need to provide payment details if I'm paying upon collection?
Most car rental suppliers require bookings to be guaranteed with the driver's credit card. If payment details are needed to secure your reservation you'll be asked for these during the booking process.
For pre-paid or part-paid bookings, a charge will be made against the credit card when the booking is requested. For post-paid bookings, the car hire charges are collected by the rental agency when the vehicle is collected.
All charges are explained on the booking forms before you are asked to confirm the booking.

Do rentals include fuel?
Typically vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel upon collection and customers are requested to return the vehicle fully-fuelled. The policy that applies to your rental is shown in the rental conditions. Upon arrival, the car rental agency can advise you of local filling stations if required.

Do rentals include collision damage waiver/taxes/whatever? What is the insurance excess?
The search results shows whether taxes are included - usually this is the case. Most rental rates are inclusive of collision damage waiver (CDW) although insurance excesses can vary between rental suppliers. The details specific to your rental are available in the car rental terms and conditions which can be viewed prior to placing a booking on the website.
When collecting your vehicle, your car rental supplier's agreement will also provide details on the collision damage waivers, insurance and related procedures for your specific rental. If you have any questions about the agreement, the car rental supplier will be pleased to help.

What happens after I have booked?
Once you have placed a booking you'll receive a confirmation email to the address you specified on the booking form. This will provide details on how to download your car rental voucher.

Full instructions of how to download your car rental voucher are sent to you via email once your booking has been confirmed. It can take up to 48 hours to issue car rental vouchers, so please be patient.

What do I need to bring with me when collecting a vehicle?
It's important to bring the following with you when collecting a vehicle:
- A valid driving license (including photocard if applicable) for the named driver and any additional driver(s)
- The driver's passport (or national identification card, if applicable)
- Your car rental voucher (issued after you have made a booking)
- The credit card used to secure your booking
If you are unable to produce these when collecting a vehicle, the rental agency may decline the rental or request additional charges. Details of alternative or acceptable driver identification will be summarized in the rental conditions before confirming a reservation.

What is my car rental reference?
Once a booking has been made, you will be issued with a Car Hire Pronto reference in two parts, like this - "XXXXXX / YYYYYY". The "XXXXX" reference is used to identify your booking when collecting a car, amending a booking or cancelling a rental. The "YYYYYY" reference is used by Car Hire Pronto for non-booking related customer services purposes.

Are additional drivers permitted?
Most car rental agencies allow additional drivers to be added to the reservation when collecting a vehicle. There may be a small administrative charge (payable locally to the rental agency). To avoid disappointment, please remember that all drivers must bring a valid driving license and passport.

What happens if I lose the car keys?
The car rental agency will be able to advise you of their policy upon collection of the vehicle. There may be charges for lost keys.

What should I do if I have an accident whilst renting a car?
Unfortunately, accidents do happen occasionally. In the first instance contact the Police and/or emergency medical services as necessary, before contacting the car rental supplier locally.
When you collect the vehicle, you will receive the rental supplier contact details and car recovery/breakdown arrangements. Keep these handy in case you need to refer to them.
